R&J wedding vows

Friar: Today, we came together to share the joy of marrying this two young, happy-in-love and irresponsible people..

Romeo: What?
Friar: You love each other, get over it.
Juliet: Hm.. he’s right I love you (runs to Romeo and tries to kiss him)
Romeo: Oh Juliet, let’s just be married. We don’t need a Friar!
Friar: Hey, I’m getting paid for doing this. So go to your places, stand still, stop touching each other and tell each other your vows!
Romeo looking for his note in his shirt
People start to whisper appalled
Juliet: Something wrong, Dear?
Romeo: Nope. I got it. I got everything covered. Everyone calm down. Nothing is happening.
Friar: -_______- Can we please go on? I got other soon-to-kill-each-other-due-to-stupidity couples to marry today. Let’s get started. Who’s first?
Romeo: Fine. Nose goes!
Juliet: WHAT? I thought you loved me?
Romeo: I do. But nose goes. You lost. I win. Oh yeah. Get used to it!
Juliet: So you think our marriage is gonna be a race or what?
Romeo: No.. I just think I’m better than you and I’m gonna beat you in EVERYTHING. Muhahaha
Juliet: Fine, but remember I’m the girl.
Romeo: And…?
Juliet: Well I can make you feel like you’re caught in the deeps of hell and let you burn inside your body!
Romeo: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Juliet: Nothing… just saying. Oh And I can pretend to be dead and make you kill yourself.
Romeo: Haha you wish. Believe me. I’m not that stupid.
Juliet: Well… I think Shakespeare knows it better than you!
Romeo: Who is that again.. wait. YOU’RE CHEATING ON ME? Already? Dude, it’s been not even one week!
Juliet: No, I heard people say Shakespeare is planning our lives. He decides what happens with us.
Romeo: I’m gonna beat that guy up… that’s what’s gonna happen.
Friar: GUYS! One more sentence and I quit and we will immediately go over to act 3, scene 2, page 6!
Romeo: Ok this is a question. Yes, you said sentence not question! So: What are you talking about now? Is everyone going crazy here? Are you all on drugs or something?
Friar: No I’m friends with that Shakespeare guy. I’m doing the dirty work for him.  Now, read your stupid vows!
Romeo: Fine!
 My dear Juliet,
I promise to love you every moment forever. The moment I saw you, I knew you were the girl that is meant to be in my heart. I truly believe that we met each other not by accident, no. We met by destiny. As God makes us his children, he offers us a twin. A person, that is somewhere in this world, waiting for us. Waiting to find the other half of its soul to make it complete. At the party, my Juliet, I finally met this person. It was you that looked me in the eyes and made me feel like a man. It was the look on your face that gave me warmth in my heart. And it was you that made me change my view of life. Life taught me a lesson. It’s not about where you are, not about how strong you are or how far you can get in life. It’s about whom you’re with and who makes life worth living it with. And here by I swear to the world to love and protect you with all my life and possibilities, until death may try to separate us and even after that.

Juliet:
Wow. When did you learn to talk in complete, useful sentences?
Romeo: Ok. Let’s see what you got, LOSER! I told you, I’m better. Now you’re afraid huh? Yes, I’m gonna win this one too! Romeo 2, Juliet 0!
Juliet: You’re weird. Ok, here you go:
Oh my Romeo. I don’t have the right words to express my love to you. It may seem strange to others, me marrying not the man my parents chose for me, but a man I truly love. A man of the house which is repudiated by my family. I’m standing here, to promise you my faithfulness and love. Today, we are becoming husband and wife. Our souls will be in a bond forever, even after death.  With you, my Romeo, I want to take the first steps into my life as a woman. I promise to love you through all the good and the bad times. All the challenges that may come will be followed by moments that express our deep, true love. No matter how much pressure is put on our relationship, I will stay with you, fight for you, do whatever it needs to be with my true love.
SO! You heard that? Even after death. Yes, suck it!
Friar: Done?
R&J: Yes
Friar: With my right’s that God gave me blablabla… I now pronounce you husband and wife. Kiss each other and get outta here! …. Hey I said kiss and get out, not make out on my altar and start producing your offspring. That’s not how Shakespeare planned this…

Journal #3

There could be several reasons causing a conflict between the houses of Montague and Capulet. The first one could be a clash of interests caused by their beliefs. Religion has always been a source of trouble. To believe in one god or another, or having religious habits that are different from others, still separates cultures today. Since the piece played in the late ages of the sixteenth century (Renaissance), the majority fo the people living in Verona were Catholics. It might be possible that either one, Montagues or Capulets, had changed their beliefs due to the Protestant Reformation, which also took place in the 16th century.

The other reason could simply be money. We know that today's family conflicts are mainly about money. Why wouldn't it be the same back then? One family has more money than the other does, and voilà: we have our fight that keeps on dividing the two families over generations. Back then it might even had been the difference of  social classes, that made the two houses fight each other.
